Cuppy-cake!
Monday, December 26, 2011
As they say, Christmas is a time for giving, for appreciating the blessings that we've got, and for being grateful of what we have. It's not about having the gifts, or receiving hefty amounts of money, but it's about spending the day with the people you love, the people who are special for you. It's not about having a significant other, but it's about being thankful for the friends who loved you more than a lover could.

My Christmas was meaningful, although I can't really say that I had fun, but at least I felt happy. That's what's important, anyway. What happened last December 25 could be equivalent to a cupcake without sprinkles. You have the chocolate cake, the frosting, but it doesn't have those cute, colorful sprinkles atop. Just like the sprinkles, the gifts, the money, and the foods (partly with the food, hahaha) are the ones that gives more color to the occasion, but it does not mean that it is necessary to be present. On the other hand, Jesus would be the cake itself, because He is the foundation why we all ought to celebrate Christmas anyway. The family, the friends, the stories and the laughter would be the frosting -- you can't really enjoy the cupcake without it. So, basically, that's how my Christmas went. A little celebration at home, sumptuous meals cooked by my folks, and aunts, cousins, and uncles visiting every now and then. It wasn't that fun, no big parties and what-nots, no overflowing money, no new phone or gorgeous dresses. Just me, my family and an overused videoke for the whole day.

And oh, my boyfriend also cooked (yep, he cooks!) a couple of leche flans and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. He visited me at home and gave it to me personally. I actually asked for it, but I didn't imagine he'd actually do it himself. And although it's not as extravagant as bouquets or chocolates, I still think it's the best gift for Christmas. Hihi. I like people who give out effort rather than people who just waste their money for gifts.

Hope you guys had fun this Christmas! Happy holidays! :)

happy holidaysss! ♥

Hella true! The problem is people no longer regard Jesus or God Himself in these kind of occasions. They only think of those crazy gifts, money, etc and not of what the reason of this celebration truly is. Merry Christmas Umi!

I love simple Christmas celebrations the best! Big parties are all just faces. You don't really get to bond and know each other. :)

Glad you had fun on your noche buena. And that's so sweet of your boyfriend to give you a home-made leche flan! Yum!

Your Christmas sounds great to me. What are presents, lots of food and money if your not with the people you love? I also had a simple yet fun Christmas because I have my family with me. I got some presents (simple ones) and I love it.

Your boyfriend is so sweet to cook for you. I love when jed cooked for me. I also like when people give me gifts they made themselves. I hope your new year would be more FUN!! Happy New Year in advance Umi!!!

What's important is you enjoyed the time spent with your family. :)Awww, how sweet of the boyfie! :D

Well honestly we don't celebrate Christmas because of our religion. But ever since my brain started to notice things, I've been observing other people who celebrate it. Well I think people really enjoy Christmas as much as we enjoy New Year. Glad you are happy during the occasion :)
Happy New Year!

That's the true essence of Christmas - spending it with your loved ones :) Simple Christmas celebrations to remember what it's really for is always the way to go. Glad you had a meaningful Christmas :) Enjoy the rest of the holidays!

I like the comparison you used between cupcakes and Christmas - clever! Well, we didn't really do anything special except my mom prepared a pretty big lunch.
Shame, your boyfriend is sweet to cook for you :)

But the important thing is that you had fun with close family and you were all together :)

I think it is good to have a nice and quiet Christmas. It's easier to be appreciative of what you have when it's simple than to be extravagant and still remember to be appreciative.

I wish Christmas commercialization would go away. It doesn't make sense at all.

I definitely agree. As a child I thought Christmas was fun because of the gifts. But now I realise it's a time to be spent with family and friends and appreciate what you've got. It's not about the gifts anymore. :)

I don't like cupcakes that much but I guess even if you don't have the fancy stuff you've still got something lovely.

Have a lovely end of year! <3

I really liked the way you used cupcake in analyzing the true meaning of Christmas. We actually had the same thing for Christmas; received no money at all, and although I've received presents, they're just little trinkets that I would just normally keep in my closet. The best part was the karaoke thing, and the cheesecake that my fiance made for me. ^_^ It's nice to have men who cooks no? hihihi ^_^

naww.. I agree!! ako nga ee.. parang same lang Christmas ko sayo.. di naman ganun ka saya di naman rin ganung ka lungkot :)

I didn't even have any gifts to open. hihihi. ok lng.. masaya na rin ako.. nag videoke lang rin kame the whole night.. I cooked but boyfie did the dishes. fair enough.. LMAO! :))
